Dr. Who

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Well, I finally watched episode 12 of the current Dr. Who season. Looks to be the first half of a two part season ender.  They did a great job of bringing all of the cast together.  The Doctor's companions: Rose, Martha, Sarah Jane Smith & Donna Noble. They also brought in Torchwood & The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I had no idea going into this episode that we were in for a new Doctor.  Wow, what a surprise.

It will be hard to waiti until next week.  I can only assume they will finally destroy the Daleks for good.

Well, it is down to two Chefs left on Hell's Kitchen. (the term is used very loosely) Christina & Petrozza  I really do feel bad for Chef Ramsay, having to pick from these two.  At least Christina seems to have some talent and a knack for the whole thing.  So did Jen, but Jen was/is a real biatch.  I thought it would be Corey and Christina at the end.  I think Ramsay is hoping for Christina.  Petrozza seems to be a real flake, he has the most experience, but not anything like running a top end restaurant.
Ramsay might be an ass, but you can't argue with his talent, results or success.

Spore (video game)

Image via Wikipedia

The Get ready for Will Wright, Maxis & EA to change gaming again.  They made new rules with the Sim series of games.  Now they have made a "Sim Everything" game.  I recently got the Creature Creator.  My son and I really like this game.  And now that we have found out some of the tips and tricks for creature creation, it is even better.  There are almost 1.1 million creatures uploaded to the Spore site.

The full game hits the streets on September 7th and I am really looking forward to it.  You start off as a single cell and can take that creature all the way to space.  You can design everything along the way.  Including the houses they live in.

The level of flexibility and creativity you can achieve in this game is incredible.  When I first heard this game was coming, I knew my son, soon to be 11, would love it.  He makes his own games and PokeMon style cards all of the time.  To be able to make almost any kind of creature you want and see it come to life, way to cool.  All we have to do now is wait until September to see out creatures interact with each other.  The other cool thing about the full game will be the ability to interact with every creature and object made by every Spore player around the world.  To let the creature interact and create new species.  I can't imagine the bandwidth the EA servers will have to have for this one game alone.

Hells Kitchen

Hell's KitchenWhat is it with this show this year?  I was very surprised that all of them were smokers.  You would think that being a chef, the last thing you would want to do is something the changes your sense of smell and taste.  Anyhow, I am not really impressed with any of the contestants this season.  No one really jumped out at me as the one.

I feel bad for Chef, because he will be stuck with one of these yahoos for at least 1 year.  Watching this show makes me really glad I did not go into cooking like I once thought I would.  I have heard horror stories from peopl I know that went into it.  It is a tremendous amount of work before you can even think of relaxing.

The Middleman - TV Pilot

IMDB Link to title

I recently watched the pilot for a new show called The Middleman.  It was one of the few show I have watched recently that has made me lough out loud (lol for you geeks). The cast looked famliar, but I am not sure why. The female lead is funny & attractive. The show is based on a comic book series. I recomend getting your comics here.  It was a little rough as far as production value goes, but I would watch a few episodes. It looks like a keeper to me, but thye have cancelled many a good show. Firefly & Arrested Development for example.

It looks like comics are really starting to make a big come back. With all of the TV shows and movies based on comics, there could be good times ahead. Not that basing a TV show or movie on a comic or book is any kind of guarantee of goodness.  Look at Battlefield Earth. Wow that was bad.

I am testing out a new plugging to help make my blog more interesting.  It tracks what I type and is supposed to find pictures and links to go with that entry.  I figure anything that will help my blog look more polished, can't be bad.  But I guess I shouldn't tell people that I use an artificial blog enhancement device. But I am getting older...

I think I need to write about something more specific for it to find stuff for me to use. I will write about the traveling Star Wars exhibit I will be seeing this weekend in the Twin Cities.  My daughter will be getting back from here boundary waters camping trip Thursday night. She will stay at one of my sister-in-laws houses. I am driving up to get her.  My sister-in-law's husband can get us passes to see the traveling Star Wars exhibit. Link to more information

Hmmm, still no relevant info from the Zemanta plugin. Oops. It turns out the left out the part about setting permissions on the json-proxy.cgi execute permissions, i.e. chmod 755.

Now it is very nice.

First the numbers - IMDB & Rotten Tomatoes

This was a very enjoyable comic book movie.  The right amount of laughs and sappy moments.  They did a great job bring in the original TV show & other comic references.

One thing I should note, is see Iron Man first.

Well, I made it through the Americanized version on The Eye last night.

First the public opinions: IMDB  & Rotten Tomatoes

I liked this moive for the most part, but I kept waiting for to see some of the cool things that made the original Japanese version so good.  This like most Amercanized versions of Japanese horror never quite hits the same mark.  My only exception to this is The Ring

I watch enough Japanese horror, that if I was a younger man, I would try to learn Japanese.

I go through the process, enter my first product. When I get to the parts about prefunding my account, I think OK.

But wait, there is a $700.00 minimum.  Do you know how much Mouse Tape that is!!!!

Guess I won't sell my tape there.

Mario Kart Wii

This game has become a nightly event for the family.  We are all making our way through the cups.

My wife and son seem to have the need for speed more that I do.  They, mostly her, raced until 11pm last night.

Wii Kart is a great game, but I prefer using the nun chuck instead of the wheel.  Much more precise.

Been playing online too. Cool feature.
