Hans Van Eeghen has invited me to volunteer for the Dharma Initiative.  Well, who wouldn't want to?  Travel to exotic places. Live on a hidden moving island removed from the normal time stream.  Play with polar bears and smoke monsters. I took the test (which was pretty cool) and was told I passed.  Not sure what that means.

I knew it!!  The government and NASA have been hiding aliens from us the whole time.  I always said that the X-Files was just a way of releasing information to the public in a safe and controlled manner.  Just like the thing in Men In Black and the tabloid newspapers.  Dis-information can be a powerful tool, and what better place to hide the truth than right out in the open.

The Pickens Plan

A friend of mine turned me on to this guy.
http://web.mac.com/two.waters/twoWaters.net/v5.0/Entries/2008/7/8_Pickens_Plan.html

Take a look and listen. Some very interesting things here.

America is in a hole and it's getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year - four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.

I've been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can't drill our way out of. But if we create a new renewable energy network, we can break our addiction to foreign oil.

On January 20, 2009, a new President gets sworn in. If we're organized, we can convince Congress to make major changes towards cleaner, cheaper and domestic energy resources.

The Closer & Saving Grace

The Closer

In my opinion, these two show are just outstanding and I won't even complain they have short summer seasons.

I first started watching The Closer after receiving an invitation to a Johnson family reunion.  It was a fantastic marketing ploy by the network to bring attention to the show. Three other people in my family got the same letter on the same day.  I wonder how many Johnson's started watching the show after getting it.  Kyra Sedgwick plays Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson on this crime drama. (hence the reunion) It is well scripted and produced.  The acting is top notch.

Saving Grace has a much harder edge.  Holly Hunter plays a police detective.  She drinks, swears, smokes, sleeps around and sees angel named Earl.  She has conversations with the angel when he shows up.  It is an outstanding show and is moving along nicely as it enters it's second season.  It seems Earl is pretty busy tying the lives of several of his earthly contact together.  It will be interesting to see how this all comes together.

Rico Colantoni

One of my favorite actors, Enrico Colantoni is back on TV in a new series, Flaspoint.  I missed since Veronica Mars went off of the air.

It isn't really covering any new ground as far as TV goes.  It is very hard to do that these days anyhow. I think it is a well put together show.  The acting and production value are both very good.  The stories are shaping up nicely.

Spore (video game)

So Spore from Will Wright was shaping up to be the most open game ever devised turns out to be one of his only games with an ending. Huh? Did I miss something?  Spore which will contain only user created content will have about 15- 20 hours of game play in the final stages.  But, will still be open ended.

Back to school

Well, I had my first night back to school on Monday night. I guess it isn't really back to school, due to the fact I have to AAS degrees (1 in Industrial Maintenance from WCTC & 1 in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Tech. I am now working towards getting a BS in Business Management.

I am in an accelerated program at Cardinal Stritch.  If I stay on plan, I will have my BS by 9/13/2010

I was going to go back to ITT because it seemed like it would be the easiest path, but after seeing the $85,000 price tag, I did some more looking.  Looking back on my first time at ITT and the experience I had with looking again, this school seems to be a scam for the most part. There seem to be quite a few stories out there.  For $85,000 I could go to a full time 4 year school.  They wanted $85,000 for 2.5 years.  If you are thinking about going, please do all of your research, then do yourself a favor and go someplace else.

Cardinal Stritch will be about $25,000 and take a little less time and have much better acreditations.

So far it seems like a good class. There are 20 of us right now and we meet every Monday nevening.  It looks like there will be a ton of writing.

It should be an interesting journey and I will try to write something every week.

Spore continues to grow & grow

I checked the creature count on Sporepedia, and it is now just shy of 1,800,000 creatures.  I can't imagine what it will be when the game gets here on September 7th.  What kind of bandwidth and storage space has EA/Maxis set aside for this game?

I am still playing with the editor and have learned some new tricks.  I think that this is another genre creating game from Maxis.

Hell's Kitchen (UK)

Image via Wikipedia

Well, Christina won the big prize.  I called this about half way through the season. Rioght when she started her long winning streak.  I think the boost in her confidence gave her the edge.

Now she has to preform in a real kitch as a real chef.  It will be interesting to hear how she does.

I recently started watching Hell's Kitchen from the UK. The season I am watching now is a celebrity version. I think it is from many years ago.  Interesting to watch these "stars" be treated as workers and actually have to work.  Some sports star couldn't take the heat.

Website Programming

I recently added Google Checkout to my website. And by me, I mean an outstanding web guru named Ilshat.

His full name is : Ilshat Fattakov

I originally found him on eLance

He does outstanding work and a great price. He should be everyone's go to guy for any website help or programming.

Well, still to cooks left.  Christina lost the final challange, but I think it was fixed.

Looks like the finale will be next week.  Good luck Christina!!!
